New AK Metal burnishing review

Ak interactive ha renovado la fórmula del líquido Metal Burnishing, así que he aprovechado para hacer una prueba. 

La mezcla tiene un comportamiento diferente al anterior, más rápido. Yo lo he utilizado tal cual sale del bote, aunque se puede diluir, en cuyo caso actuará más despacio.

En primer lugar limpié las cadenas con acetona y las lavé con agua, dejándolas listas para aplicar el producto. Después vertí la mitad del bote para hacer la primera cadena. 

Ak interactive has renewed his formula of Burnishing Metal liquid, so I have taken the opportunity to make a test. 

The mixture has a different behavior, acting much faster. I've used it as it comes out of the bottle, but can be diluted, in which case it will act slowlier. 

First I cleaned the tracks with acetone and I washed them with water, leaving them ready to apply the product. Later I poured half of the pot to make the first track.

En esta foto se ven algunas de las burbujas que pueden quedar.  Y como queda después de repasar con un pincel y unas gotas de producto sin usar.

This photo shows some of the bubbles can be. And how it looks after correcting those bubbles with a brush and a little of  unused product.

En general es un buen producto, con un precio muy competitivo. Actúa rápido y puede dejar pequeñas zonas donde el líquido deje de actuar. Sin embargo siempre se puede reservar un poco de producto para aplicarlo a pincel sobre las zonas donde no ataque el producto.

Overall is a good product with a very competitive price. It acts fast so you can leave small areas where the liquid stops acting. However you can always save a little of liquid to apply with a brush over areas not attacked.

El resultado final me parece bastante bueno, mejor fórmula que el anterior ya que es un 40% más barato.

The end result seems pretty good, better than the previous formula as it is 40% cheaper.

Some Mini Natur products

Since some years I tried to find some Mini Natur products but either I had no money or the web didn't have a good stock. Finally I found cheap prices and a big variety in "El taller del modelista" web shop. Each strip has a cost of 4€, so I could buy many of them and have a good variety.

Desde hace unos años traté de encontrar productos de Mini Natur pero o no tenía dinero ahorrado o no había una tienda con suficiente variedad a buen precio. Finalmente lo encontré en "El taller del modelista", que tiene una buena gama de estos productos.  Cada tira tiene un coste de 4€ y por menos de 40€ conseguí una buena variedad de vegetación para usarla en proyectos futuros.

Unas fotos de como hice el terreno. El terreno está hecho con yeso dental mezclado con pigmentos de vallejo. El yeso dental es similar a la escayola pero mucho más duro. Es una técnica muy divertida, porque seca en sólo media hora y es como jugar con tierra real. Cuando la mezcla se seca en el recipiente, la rompo en cachos para obtener terrones de diferentes tamaños. Para pegarlo también usé la misma mezcla de yeso dental pero más diluida.  

Some photos of the terrain process. The terrain is made with dental stone mixed with vallejo pigments. Dental stone is similar to plaster of paris, but much harder. It is really fun, because it dries in almost 30 minutes and it's like playing with real earth. When the mix dried in the pot, I broke it into pieces to obtain earth of different sizes. To glue them I also used a more diluted mix of dental stone and pigments.

New Camera

Por fin tengo una cámara reflex de alta calidad que me permitirá sacar mejores fotos. Hasta ahora he tenido a ratos prestada una Nikon D60 y una vieja kodak P880, pero a partir de ahora usaré una Nikon d5100. En los dos días que la llevo probando estoy muy contento con el potencial que tiene.


Finally I have an SLR quality camera that will allow me to take better pictures. So far I have had a borrowed  Nikon D60 and an old kodak P880, but from now I will use my own Nikon d5100.  I have been two days taking photos and I'm very happy because of the excellent results. 

Afrika Korps Figure II

Sigo trabajando poco a poco esta figura, tratando de aprender. Creo que podré terminarla durante la semana que viene. De lo que menos satisfecho estoy es la cara, especialmente de las arrugas de las mejillas. Necesito practicar con más figuras.

I'm still working slowly in this figure, trying to learn. I think I can finish it during next week. I'm  not very satisfied with the face, especially with the cheeks wrinkles. I have to practice  with more figures.

Afrika korps figure

Una de los aspectos que más me interesan en el mundo del modelismo es la pintura de figuras a 1/35. Poco a poco he ido mejorando gracias a compañeros, concursos y libros, pero todavía me queda mucho por mejorar.

He escogido esta figura de Alpine para una futura viñeta con un coche descapotable. Es la típica figura de "Un tío mirando", muy bien esculpida que es un complemento perfecto si no te quieres complicar mucho la vida. Realmente mirando fotos de soldados del Áfrika koprs, muchas veces no estaban haciendo nada, pasando el rato con las manos en los bolsillos, bebiendo o descansando.

De momento sólo he pintado la camisa para ver como la llevo.

One of the things that most interest me in the world of modeling is painting figures in 1/35. Slowly I have been improving thanks to colleagues, modelling contests and books, but I still have much to improve. 

I selected this Alpine figure for a future vignette with a convertible car. This is a typical figure of  "A looking guy " which is a perfect complement if you do't want to complicate yourself. Looking at pictures of soldiers Afrika koprs, I saw that often they were doing nothing, hanging out with his hands in his pockets, drinking or resting.

Up to now I have only painted the shirt to see how it looks.

Finished Centurion

Hace tiempo que quería terminar esta figura. Es la primera figura que pinto a esta escala (75mm) y he tratado de pintarla bien pero relativamente rápido para no eternizarme con ella. Al final he quedado bastante satisfecho sobre todo con el terreno.

I have wanted to finish this figure that I started some months ago. It's the first figure I paint in this scale (75mm) and have tried to paint in a good standard but not waste too much time. In the end I was quite satisfied especially with the ground.

Razorback base coat & fast modulation

Now the basecoat it's painted. 

I experimented with black & white priming. Creating some textures with sponge and cenital light, but done it fastly. Its a previous step prior to the rest of techniques, so with this technique you can achieve more texture variations in the base coat.


Dark Angels Modulation recipe for tamiya. Aproximated proportions.(Also added a few drops of Tamiya Clear to give a satin finish).

1. Base Colour: Tamiya Lemon Yellow(70%) + (20%) Blue + (10%) Black
2. First Lights: Base Colour (80%) + White (20%)
3. Shades: Base Colour (80%) + Black (20%)

Bueno, ya le tengo en capa base.

Experimenté con la imprimación blanco & negro. Con luz cenital y esponja, todo bastante rápido. Es un paso previo complementario al resto de técnicas de siempre, de forma que se consigue un poquito más de riqueza en la capa base.

Receta modulación de Ángeles Oscuros. (Proporciones aproximadas) Añadidas también unas gotas de tamiya clear para dar un acabado satinado.

1. Color base: Tamiya Amarillo Limón(70%) + (20%) Azul + (10%) Negro 
2. Primeras luces: Color Base (80%) + Blanco (20%)
3. Sombra: Color base (80%) + Negro (20%)

En estas fotos se aprecia poco el texturizado previo pero en vivo se nota bastante más.
Lo pinté con Tamiya añadiendole Clear para que posteriormente tenga un acabado satinado y fluyan bien los lavados.

Dark Angels Terminators

I like Terminators a lot, and I bought the expensive dark angels kit, but there was a lot of cool weapons that would not be used. To use them, I bought cheap second hand Terminators from Black Reach Box and  also used the ones from my Dark Vengeance Box. This is the result.

Me encantan los exterminadores de 40K. Hace unos meses salió a la venta la caja de exterminadores de los Ángeles Oscuros, que es bastante cara, pero que viene con numeras armas extra y accesorios. Después de estudiar las matrices me di cuenta de que comprando exterminadores sencillos podría aprovechar tanta arma pesada que viene. Con esta idea compré unos exterminadores de segunda mano de Black Reach, baratos y sosos, pero perfectos para conversionarlos en exterminadores de los Ángeles Oscuros.

Estos serían los originales de la caja, los 5 caballeros.

Y ahora les seguirían el resto de customizados.

Space Marines Fenrisian Wolves

This wolves where painted with a white spray basecoat and  the rest with oils. Tongues, eyes and injuries where painted with acrylics.

Estos lobos fueron pintados con una capa base/ imprimación blanca y el resto con tratamientos de oleos, salvo en ojos, lenguas y heridas. 

Lord of the Rings Trolls Conversion project

As GW only gives one body in the plastic troll kit, I made some resin copies so I can use the rest of the arms and make some custom figures.

Como GW sólo trae un cuerpo de troll el el kit de plástico de esta figura, me dediqué a sacar varias copias en resina y así poder aprovechar el resto de armas y brazos que vienen. Están a medio terminar, a algunos les faltan de añadir manos y armas.

New Razorback Dark Angels Project

This is my first 40K tank. I will paint it with military model techniques. First I have scratchbuilt a two sided dozer blade with plasticard. The dozer blades can be removed so you can play with or without it.

Este es mi primer tanque de 40K. Lo pintaré con las típicas técnicas de pintura de vehículos militares. Lavados, desconchones, etc... Lo primero que he hecho ha sido construir a scratch una cuchilla de doble filo con plasticard. Este espolón podría ser una antigua reliquia usada para avanzar a través de la nieve, en entornos urbanos para despejar el camino o para quitar del medio hordas de enemigos.
